What is glamping?

Glamping = glamorous camping. Think real bedding, fairy lights, cozy atmosphere and delicious food, all while still enjoying the great outdoors.

How is it different from camping?

Traditional camping is all about the basics: minimal gear, lighter weight setups, and being fine with maybe getting a bit grubby.

Glamping is about comfort. It’s about creating a where you actually want to hang out all day and not just crash at night. It’s camping… with style and comfort

Is it worth the effort?

Honestly? we this Absolutely! A few changes and a little bit of effort can make your camp feel luxurious without loads of gear or expense. It’s not about perfection, it’s about creating an atmosphere that feels a little special.

Inside the tent

The Tent

  • Here, size actually matters. If you’ve got (or can borrow) a bell tent, perfect! But any larger tent will work fine. Aim for one you can stand up in and move around comfortably.

  • A separate entryway or vestibule is a bonus. It is great for storing wet swimmers and towels, muddy shoes and keeping your indoor area clean and dry.

Flooring

  • A rug to put on the floor of the tent is a simple way to up your DIY glamping game. This allow your feet to feel nice and not on the plastic flooring of a tent.

  • If you don’t have a full-sized rug, using a few smaller ones will get the same feel. A bath mat next to the bed on each side to step onto in the morning is also an option.

  • Use real bedding: fitted sheets, a cosy quilt or doona, and plenty of pillows.

  • Add texture and layers: throw blankets, knitted cushions, and soft linens make everything feel that little bit more luxe.

  • Don’t forget eye masks for a better sleep.

Outside the Tent

Equipment

  • Set up a comfy cooking and dining area. Bring your usual camp kitchen gear, but elevate it with a proper table setup. A tablecloth makes a big difference, along with placemats to make it feel special. .

  • Swap the plastic for the real deal: ceramic mugs, metal cutlery, and proper plates instantly make mealtimes feel a little more special.

  • Floor matting or a picnic rug underfoot helps define the space and keeps everything cleaner (especially under the table and chairs).

  • Make sure you have a comfortable chair to relax in, and if it’s a bit chilly, add a throw rug for extra warmth.

  • Now for the fun part, decor! Bring a few small touches to make the space feel cosy and personal: a bunch of wildflowers in a jar, a woven basket, a little bowl of snacks and battery operated tea candles are fun options but be creative with anything you would like.

  • Solar fairy lights or lanterns strung up around your tent or trees create the perfect glowy, magical atmosphere after dark. You could also add LED candles or battery-powered lanterns for extra ambience.

Food & drinks

  • Eating well is one of the best parts of glamping. With a little prep, your meals can feel fun, indulgent, and totally doable, even in the bush.

  • Plan ahead as much as possible. Prepping food at home means way less work at the campsite. Chop veggies, marinate meats, or pre-cook a meal to simply reheat and enjoy.

  • Create a glamping menu. Think of meals you wouldn’t usually take camping, like pancakes with berries, warm pasta dishes, or flatbreads with dips. You can even make a cute printed menu for fun.

  • Cheese platters are a must. Pack a few cheeses, dips, crackers, fruit, and a small chopping board or platter. It’s easy to throw together and feels instantly fancy.

  • Mix up a cocktail (or mocktail). Pre-mix your drinks in jars and bring a few garnishes like citrus slices and mint. Use your favourite mugs and tumblers to make it feel a little extra. We have pick of safe coup glasses which instantly make our drinks feel nicer.

  • Plan one fun dessert. Try fire-roasted bananas with chocolate, a simple fondue, or a hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream.

  • Don’t forget the finishing touches. A small bottle of olive oil, flaky salt, or getting a new tea can make your meals feel elevated. Pack smart don’t forget the treats!

Toiletries & Pampering

  • Just because you’re camping doesn’t mean you can’t feel clean, fresh, and a little bit pampered. These small comforts make a big difference in how you feel during your trip.

  • Bring a fluffy towel. A proper towel makes your camp shower feel so much better. There’s nothing quite like wrapping yourself in something soft and cosy after rinsing off.

  • Pack a shower mat or small towel for the floor. Stepping out of the shower onto something clean and dry feels so much nicer than standing in wet thongs. It’s a small thing, but makes you feel more refreshed.

  • Use your regular toiletries. Bring your everyday shampoo, cleanser, moisturiser, perfume, whatever helps you feel like you. It’s a comfort to stick to your usual routine, even in the middle of nowhere.

  • Add a few self-care extras. Face masks, body oil, or a refreshing mist can go a long way in helping you feel relaxed and recharged. You don’t need a full spa kit, just one or two things that feel indulgent.

  • Keep it all organised. Use a hanging toiletry bag or a basket so everything’s easy to access and not rolling around the tent. Bonus: it makes pack-up easier too.
